  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by peeling and slicing them thinly. Toss with 150 g of sugar and salt; let sit for 30 minutes to release juices.
  2. Layer the apples in a baking dish and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 40 minutes until tender.
  3. For the custard, whisk together milk, egg yolks, cornstarch, and remaining sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened. Stir in vanilla bean paste.
  4. Once cooled slightly, assemble layers of apple and custard alternately in your baking dish.
  5. Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving to meld flavors.
