  • 1 large yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 2 small Fuji apples (peeled and diced)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons whiskey

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook diced turkey bacon until crispy. Drain excess grease on paper towels.
  2. Leave about four tablespoons of grease in the pan; add diced onion and cook until translucent (8-10 minutes).
  3. Stir in diced apples and cook until softened (4-5 minutes).
  4. Add minced garlic, brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, and cooked turkey bacon; mix well.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in whiskey before returning to heat.
  6. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until thickened to jam-like consistency.
  7. Serve warm or cold.
