- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce or ketchup
- 1 large egg
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 8 oz button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for searing)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, tomato sauce, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, black pepper, and salt until combined. Shape into four equal patties.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat; add patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Add beef broth along with onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a simmer. Return patties to the skillet and cook for about 10 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry; stir into gravy and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste; serve topped with mushroom gravy and garnish with fresh parsley.
