- 6 medium tart apples (Granny Smith recommended)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup (or agave syrup)
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: food coloring, chopped nuts, or sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly; remove stems.
- Insert wooden sticks into the tops of each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat until dissolved.
- Increase heat and boil without stirring until mixture reaches 300°F.
- Remove from heat; stir in vanilla extract and food coloring if desired.
- Dip each apple into the candy mixture until fully coated; let excess drip off.
- Place on wax paper-lined baking sheet; decorate with toppings if using.
- Allow coating to set before serving.
