Ingredients
- 4 medium apples
- Popsicle sticks or bamboo apple sticks
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 6 tablespoons water
- ¼ teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon flavor (optional)
Instructions
- Insert a popsicle stick into the center of each apple.
- Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper and coat it with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water; stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat while stirring regularly, then reduce heat to medium.
- Add food coloring and cinnamon flavoring if desired.
- Boil until it reaches hard crack stage (300°F – 310°F), about 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and dip each apple quickly in the hot sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Place dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet to cool completely.
