- 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Unsalted butter
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your baking dish with butter.
- In a saucepan, mix heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg over medium heat until warm.
- Layer half the potato slices in the baking dish; pour half the cream mixture over them.
- Add half the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses; repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
- Dot with butter on top and cover with foil.
- Bake covered for 40 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
