  • ¾ cup buttermilk, at room temperature
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream, for glaze
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, for glaze

Instructions

  1. Prepare strawberries by tossing them with granulated sugar and letting them sit for 10-15 minutes. Drain well and toss with flour.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan and line with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together remaining flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed; fold in floured strawberries.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 55-65 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla; drizzle over cooled bread.
