Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Toast pecans on a baking sheet for 5–7 minutes until fragrant; cool.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; mix until just combined.
  7. Fold in cooled toasted pecans.
  8. Scoop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden; cool on the sheet for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  10. Prepare glaze by melting butter and brown sugar over low heat; stir in milk or cream and then whisk in powdered sugar until smooth.
