Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using fresh crab, steam for about 10 minutes until bright red, then cool and extract the meat.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes).
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine crab meat, melted garlic butter, lemon juice, parsley, chives, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  5. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet; brush with olive oil on both sides.
  6. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Top each slice with crab mixture and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
  8. Bake for an additional 5 minutes to meld flavors.
