Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine Maseca masa harina and salt.
- Gradually add water and knead until you have a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions; keep covered with a damp towel.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or comal over medium heat.
- Shape each portion into a ball, flatten it between plastic sheets using a heavy dish.
- Cook each gordita for about 1-2 minutes on each side until browned and puffy.
- Cut a slit in each gordita to create a filling pocket and stuff as desired.
