  • 1 cup yellow onion, diced

  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 8 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Toast diced sesame seed buns on the baking sheet with olive oil until crispy, about 10 minutes.
  3. In a large pot over medium heat, brown ground beef with oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper; set aside.
  4. In the same pot, melt butter and sauté onions, carrots, celery, salt, and pepper for about 10 minutes.
  5. Add minced garlic and remaining herbs; cook until fragrant.
  6. Stir in flour; cook for another minute before deglazing with a splash of chicken broth.
  7. Add remaining broth and uncooked macaroni; bring to a simmer for about 5-7 minutes until pasta is al dente.
  8. Remove from heat; stir in heavy cream and cheddar until melted.
