- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup yellow onion, diced
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup sliced celery
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 8 oz uncooked elbow macaroni
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Toast diced sesame seed buns on the baking sheet with olive oil until crispy, about 10 minutes.
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown ground beef with oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper; set aside.
- In the same pot, melt butter and sauté onions, carrots, celery, salt, and pepper for about 10 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and remaining herbs; cook until fragrant.
- Stir in flour; cook for another minute before deglazing with a splash of chicken broth.
- Add remaining broth and uncooked macaroni; bring to a simmer for about 5-7 minutes until pasta is al dente.
- Remove from heat; stir in heavy cream and cheddar until melted.
- Return cooked beef to pot; warm through before serving topped with croutons.
