- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked white rice (cooked)
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
Instructions
- Core the cabbage and carefully remove leaves. Blanch in boiling water for 2–3 minutes until pliable.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Place a portion of filling on each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
- Arrange rolls seam-side down in a large pot or Dutch oven.
- In another bowl, mix crushed tomatoes, beef broth, paprika, and marjoram; pour over cabbage rolls.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until tender.
