Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients until smooth; set aside.
- In a pan over medium heat, combine sugar and cold water to create a syrup; add walnuts and coat evenly before cooling on parchment paper.
- Season shrimp with salt and pepper; toss in a large bowl.
- Whisk egg whites until foamy; mix in cornstarch to create a batter.
- Coat shrimp in batter and fry in heated oil until golden brown (2-3 minutes).
- Drain excess oil from fried shrimp on paper towels.
- Combine shrimp with candied walnuts and sauce; toss gently.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
