Ingredients
- 2 cups water
 - 2 tsp loose-leaf smoky black tea or 2 tea bags
 - 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
 - 4–5 black peppercorns
 - 3 whole cloves
 - 3 green cardamom pods
 - 1 cinnamon stick
 - Optional: 1 star anise
 - 1–2 tablespoons brown sugar (to taste)
 
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring water to a boil. Add spices: black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick (plus star anise if using). Simmer for about 5 minutes.
 - Add smoky black tea to the pot and steep for 3-4 minutes.
 - Stir in milk and brown sugar; simmer on low heat for another 3-4 minutes.
 - Strain into mugs to remove spices and enjoy warm.
