  • 75 grams butter
  • 200 grams mixed dried fruit (currants, raisins)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and mixed spice powder.
  2. Add the sourdough starter and milk; stir until combined.
  3. Gradually mix in the melted butter until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a bowl covered with a kitchen towel; let it rise in a warm place for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and mix in the dried fruit.
  7. Divide into equal pieces (about 12) and shape into round buns.
  8. Arrange on a lined baking sheet; cover again and let rise for another 2 hours.
  9. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
