  • ½ cup cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly butter an 11 x 8-inch casserole dish.
  2. Soak the chopped dates in scalded milk mixed with baking soda for about 15 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In a food processor, blend eggs, brown sugar, butter, and vanilla; then mix in dry ingredients and date mixture until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the dish and bake for approximately 30 minutes until golden.
  5. Prepare the caramel sauce by melting butter and mixing in brown sugar until dissolved; then add cream until bubbling.
  6. After baking, poke holes in the cake and pour one-third of the caramel sauce over it to soak.
  7. Allow to rest for 15 minutes before serving warm with additional caramel sauce and whipped cream.
