- 2 1/2 cups cake flour

- 5–6 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix cake flour and baking powder; set aside.
- In a mixer bowl, cream together salted butter, granulated sugar, and lime zest until fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition; blend in lime juice.
- Alternately mix in the dry ingredients and whole milk until combined; add green food coloring if desired.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for about 25 minutes until springy.
- Allow cakes to cool before frosting.
