  • 2 cups milk (for custard filling)
  • 3 egg yolks (for custard filling)
  • ⅓ cup sugar (for custard filling)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (for custard filling)
  • pinch salt (for custard filling)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for custard filling)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for custard filling)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the Granny Smith apples; mix with lemon juice, sugar, and spices.
  3. For the crust, combine flour and salt, cut in cold butter until crumbly, then add ice water to form dough.
  4. Roll out half of the dough into a baking dish; fill with the apple mixture.
  5. Prepare toffee sauce by melting butter, adding brown sugar and cream, then whisking in cornstarch until thickened.
  6. Pour toffee sauce over apples and cover with rolled-out second crust; seal edges and cut slits for steam.
