- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 8 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk (preferably 2% or whole)
- 1 to 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 pound French bread (diced into cubes)
Instructions
- Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until it resembles wet sand; spread this mixture at the bottom of the prepared pan.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs and add milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- Toss diced bread into the egg mixture until evenly coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the casserole dish, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
- Invert onto a serving platter and drizzle with additional caramel sauce if desired. Serve warm.
